This evening I was honored to speak at North Carolina State University. My aim was to invigorate and motivate students towards the direction of becoming active citizens in politics, advocacy and community organizing.

In the beginning of my presentation I asked all the students to come to the front and stop looking for role models and inspiration from others because the reality is I told them that they are the role models and they are ones who can inspire and lead. I pointed out that all of us can make more of an impact when we stand together, then when we are apart.

At the end I wrapped up with some real and tangible ideas that students can start implementing in their own lives whether it’s visiting a religious center, holding and organizing events that talks about important issues or simply spending time volunteering with other community initiatives.
