Great event at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Hillsborough focusing on pressing issues on anti Muslim hate and Islam. Our event went longer than expected and it was all worth it and even in the end few still decided to stay for a closer conversation. Faisal Khan of CPC was invited as a speaker.

After the dinner he began the talk on today’s developments on Muslim Ban oral arguments and how it’s impacting Muslims here and abroad. He also shed light on Islamophobic Policies from CVE to profiling Muslims that was initiated under the reign of previous administration. Touched on statistics related to hate crimes against Muslims in the US and vandalism and arson in Masjids. He also talked about how domestic Islamophobic policies are equally embedded in American foreign policy. Last, he discussed the vibrant American Muslim communities in the Triangle and across the county where Muslims are becoming a force to reckon with in politics and other institutions.

Last part of the event was Q&A that lasted over hour that included important dialogue and discussion on Islam as faith and culture. This was a wonderful event and CPC is looking forward to engaging in similar events like this one in the near future.
